I hope we make it an annual tradition. I swear this steakhouse has been here since the dawn of time . A family birthday was planned here.

Mine, too…and don’t forget to read what fellow burger aficionado Tom Molitor has to say in the comments below. Make sure to add fries to your burger order. They’re some of the best you’ll find.
An institution: Monte Carlo Steakhouse serves up unpretentious menu, decent prices on old Route 66
Someone in our party ordered "The Salmon". The server said "oh, the surf and turf." Our friend said "No the salmon". The server "how would you like that cooked?".
Monte Carlo Steakhouse
For over 50 years, this beloved classic American bar and restaurant has been delighting patrons with mouthwatering steaks and delectable sandwiches. It has earned a special place in the hearts of locals, and it’s easy to see why. Stepping into the Monte Carlo Steakhouse feels like a journey back in time, with a menu that celebrates classic American dishes. Indulge in Monte’s juicy steaks, hearty sandwiches, flavorful seafood, and satisfying pasta dishes.
Lunch specials are available Monday through Friday while a prime rib–regarded by many as among the city’s very best–is the evening special Thursday and Friday. Aside from the aforementioned baked potato (perfectly done) or rice pilaf, each dinner also includes one slice of Texas toast. If you are on the go or prefer to dine in the comfort of your own space, the Monte Carlo Steakhouse also offers convenient takeout options.
Our waitress was so nice and patient with us. Trying to make decisions on what to order. The menu isn't as elaborate as most places but I knew this place was known for their steaks.
The Monte Carlo Steakhouse takes great pride in these snapshots, proudly displaying Monte Carlo as a collage of joyous memories adorning its walls. This place is a genuine steak experience, in a no frills, old fashion diner tucked behind a packaged liquor store off old Route 66. The steak was among the most tender I have had. The very definition of a hole in the wall...behind a liquor store, in the land of Heisenberg. A Diners Drive Ins and Dives stop.
Restaurant Locations
To those in the know, it’s also one of Albuquerque’s very best steak houses. The steakhouse has hosted countless locals and travelers in its six decades of operation. It’s a favorite of travel guide editors and Food Network’s Guy Fieri. It has survived the rise of the interstates, fast food and COVID, and remains so popular today you’ll often find long waits for a table during the dinner rush. This is one of the best restaurants in town.
The wait staff was attentive, especially Maria. The dinner was great, just the basics, salad, steak (ribeye - we were a little too early for prime rib) baked potato and beer (Cumbres IPA). Everything was done perfectly and delicious. Wait was 45 minutes but it is small and cozy.

To stupid to have reusable masks for customers. Had it for dinner last night and leftovers for breakfast this morning ironically.
The steaks are great the prices are low and the people are friendly. Best alcohol prices I've seen in town. The steak and pork chops were cooked to perfection. The upshot here is that the quality of the food was very good and we were all very happy with our meals.
This time the sirloins, the Rib Eye, and the Fillets were all tough! The shrimp were very poorly cooked. A Terrible contrast to other visits. Salads were still good, and the Ranch is great. But we come here mostly for the steaks.
We chose fries instead which are natural cut fries. The only issues we had was with the burger patty being burned but .they promptly made another one. If you are looking for amazing steak this is the place to go. Not to mention Guy from the food network ate here and said he would come back for meat balls since they serve spaghetti for lunch.
Our server was attentive, took care of the group well. It was OK, but not spectacular. Came with a house salad which was, frankly, uninspired. Too much iceberg lettuce and a bottled italian dressing. Slice of Texas toast was OK but again, nothing with a wow factor. Overall, it was not a disappointment, but it was not a super steak house either.
